Cape York Custom Sportfishing - Seisia

Charter boatNo matter how many times you venture to the Cape, you are not prepared for the stunning vista of pure white sand and sparkling blue seas that greet you there. You will instantly feel at home, relaxed but excited as expectations are high for a fishing experience of a life- time.

As the sun sets over Prince of Whales Island, your guide leisurely strolls down to the water's edge to greet you - as is the way in a small town - everyone knows what's going on. In no time at all you exchange pleasantries and make arrangements for your 7.15 am pick up from the Villa in the morning to commence your adventure.

Now the guide knows these waters well and you can trust his judgment explicitly. Options include travel to the Torres Strait Islands in the morning, venture to the east coast and the mighty Jacky Jacky system the next day or travel down the coast to the Jardine River and beyond on the next. This will give you a good look around at the various waters; enabling you to experience a variety of river, estuary, near shore blue water, beach flats, coral reef and rocky outcrop fishing like never before - all within easy boating distance of the resort.

You only have to travel about 300 metres to the boat ramp, situated right next to the Seisia jetty, one of the best fishing structures in Oz. I have commented on this superb fishing platform on many occasions, the baitfish that hangs around the pylons have to be seen to be believed.

The vessel, a superbly riding "Stinger" long boat, is perfect for cruising down the coast, to the near shore blue water and islands or gliding up the rivers and estuaries that make this unique fishing destination so productive. This region has so many fishy looking places, islands of all sizes dot the horizon, sand bars strew along the near shore zone while the white sandy beaches and flats hold promise of excellent fly fishing opportunities.

Speedboat Entering the estuary Bent rod!

The diversity of target species is similarly impressive; from prime salt-water barramundi up the creeks and estuaries, mangrove jacks, trevally, grunter, fingermark, black jew, bream and salmon. To marauding packs of queenfish, huge schools of northern longtail tuna and spanish mackerel near shore. To more salmon, queenfish and various trevally in the sore break and river mouths. (Refer Seasonal Guide - on Seisia Home page for full particulars)
