Sportfishing Day Charters

The azure waters of the Great Barrier Reef off of the Cairns region offers all types of water activities and piscatorial pursuits. Light Tackle sportfishing has to be one of the most spectacular and personally rewarding experiences if quality angling is your desire.

Can you imagine trolling lures and baits on 6-20 kg custom tackle from modern 35-55 ft game boats, or bottom fishing and jigging the reef drop offs and bommies for marauding monsters.

Spectacular fishing for the many Pacific gamefish that inhabit the food rich waters of our Great Barrier Reef - this expansive list includes highly rated sportfish like small to medium marlin, spanish (king) mackerel, yellowfin and other tuna, sailfish, mahi mahi, wahoo, and various trevally species - all great light tackle sport fish. Our skippers offer top quality tackle, custom made rods and only the best in reels such as Shimano, Penn, Fin Nor and Abu, perfectly matched to the various line classes.

The boats are fully fitted out with the fisherman in mind. The latest in electronic equipment, temperature and location plotters, GPS, colour video sounders, radios and all safety gear.

Some even have an air-conditioned saloon for clients' complete relaxation and comfort whilst travelling to the grounds, while toilet and limited cooking and kitchen facilities are usually standard

Charters include all tackle and bait, light refreshments, tea, coffee, soft drinks and lunch, and are for a maximum of 6 anglers per vessel.

Departing from the various marinas (options available from Cairns Marlin Marina, Yorkeys Knob or Port Douglas Marina Mirage) at 7:30am and returning at approximately 5:30pm.

Share day charter from A$395 per person (max 6 anglers)

Sole day charter from A$1850 per day

Extended live-aboard sole charters from A$1950 per day.

• All rates quoted are in Australian Dollars and include 10% GST
